Verizon Expecting Froyo On The Fascinate By The New Year?

A warning to the wise, take this one with a grain of salt.  It looks like the guys over at Android Central caught wind of an internal spec’s comparison sheet, detailing expectations of the Fascinate receiving Adobe Flash by the end of 2010.  Well, that’s about a week away and the device requires at least 2.2 to run the application. Anyone receive it yet?   We didn’t think so.  So, we highly doubt that this is an up to date document.  To further confirm that, the document shows that the Droid X is sporting Android 2.1.  The X received 2.2 back in September.  So, sorry if we got your hopes up.  Hang in there Fascinate lovers.  There’s always the comments below if you want to vent.

Yeah right I don’t believe it until I see it… Verizon is the worst known carrier that flakes when it comes to updates for android OS, it probably won’t come till march of 2011

Sad…. Sick of the promises and Verizon not following through, as usual..

Verizon is full of it. I was told in September, at an official Verizon store that 2.2 would be out in October. So I bought the Samsung Galaxy S. When I did not get the update I contacted Verizon via *611. They apologized for the misinformation but, now, early November, it was out and I was in the queue as they do about 5 thousand updates a day. When I did not get it in mid December, I call Verizon again. And was told that it had not been released yet and that it would be before the end of the year, (2010). Here we are in 2011 and still no update. If I do not have the update by end of January my company, only 100 phones is dumping Verizon.

It is most likely that Verizon will not release Froyo until after the IPone goes on sale. They do not want anything to interfere with the sales of the IPhone. Upgrading the fascinate will give people less reason to go with the IPhone. So be happy with what you have got. Because it is not getting better anytime soon.
