XDA Saves The Day, Samsung Intercept Bricked By Froyo Update Gets a Fix

Were you one of the unfortunate Samsung Intercept owners who inherited a glorified paper weight thanks to the 2.2 Froyo update?  As usual, XDA has come to the rescue by providing a fix for your rather expensive investment.  Member Whosdaman, a sales rep for Sprint,  has provided a fix that will get your Intercept up and awake from its beauty rest in no time.  However, he warns that you MUST have the 2.2 update already on your phone.  If you meet the criteria, then head over to the thread and get full instructions on how to fix the issue.  Stop back and let us know how the fix worked out for you.

    I have tried this twice (found yesterday in a different forum) on my Virgin Mobile Intercept. Today I got this:

    E: failed to open /sdcard/update.zip (No such file or directory)
    E: signature verification failed
    Installation aborted.

    The downloaded file name was WhiteSmokeInstaller_9128.exe. Is this correct?

    Second post. Downloaded the correct file. Got the same message as last time:
    ase-keys” | | file_getprop(“system/build.prop”, “ro.build.fingerprint”) == “sprint/SPH-M910/SPH-910:2.2.1/FROYO/DL05:user/release-keys”
    E: Error in /sdcard/update.zip
    (Status 7) Installation aborted.

    I am trying to do this on a Virgin Mobile Samsung Intercept. Is that the problem, I wonder?
    Thanks.
