Cricket announces new “All In” plans offering cheap, high-speed data access for smartphones

cricket_wireless_logo_2014

Cricket announced some new wireless plans over the weekend that may offer some good deals for customers who are covered by their service, which Cricket claims covers more are than the 4G LTE networks of T-Mobile, Metro-PCS, Sprint, Boost or Virgin. In a bit of a twist that seems like something T-Mobile might do, Cricket is calling the plans “All In” because the prices published include all the taxes and fees that other carriers tack on top of their monthly subscription fees.

The lowest cost plan that was announced is a Basic Plan that provides 2.5GB of high-speed access to go with unlimited talk and text for only $40 per month, or $35 per month if you take advantage of an auto-pay credit. Users can step that up to a Smart Plan that comes with 5GB of data for $50 per month or a Pro Plan that includes 10GB of data for $60 per month. In addition, a new Advanced Plan that gives users 20GB of data for $60 per month is also available. Like the Basic Plan, the monthly cost of all of these can be reduced by $5 by opting for auto-pay. New customers who switch to Cricket can also get a free month of service credited to their account.

I’m confused. What’s new about this? I got a Cricket phone with this exact plan more than a month ago. =

This isn’t new, they just bumped up the “high speed” allotment for the bottom two tiers and added a new 20GB top tier.

Cricket is one of the best deals in wireless, they are owned by AT&T and use the AT&T network, and you can use any unlocked GSM phone OR any AT&T phone (no unlocking required for AT&T phones).

With their group save you can get 4 lines for $100 and each line gets unlimited talk, text & data with the first (now 2.5GB) being high speed data. Also unlike even T-Mobile’s 4 for $100 plan your taxes and other fees are included so you really only pay $100.

I currently have an extremely good discount with AT&T because the company I work for used to be owned by AT&T but that’s going to expire in May and when it does I’m already planning on switching to Cricket.
