New study shows Android users consume more mobile data than iOS, Blackberry, Symbian and more

According to a new study, users of Android devices use up more data than any other mobile consumers on the market. The explaination? Quite simple, really; there are simply more Android phones out there than any other. While the iPhone and iPad are locked down to a single carrier, Blackberries just don’t use up as much data, there are only a small number of WP7 phones out, and Symbian hardly has a presence in the US, Android devices are everywhere.Take this into consideration: there are at least 5 active Android devices on every major carrier.

I think we will see this even out as most early users of Android are the “in” tech crowd of early adopters. As more people shift over to the platform when their current contracts are up the lighter users will shift also.

It could relate to the fact that a lot of Android apps (from what I’ve seen so far) don’t require that you use Wi-fi in order to use the app.
I hardly ever use Wi-Fi because I’m paying $30 a month and I want to use as much as I can.
I wouldn’t be opposed to tiered data with Verizon but so far they haven’t introduced it.
I’m sure I’m not the only customer who wants to use as much data as they can since they’re pay quite a nice sum for “unlimited” data or just data in general.
