We’ve been waiting, speculating, rumoring, and waiting some more, but finally – Comcast has spilled the beans. In an official email sent to us here at TalkAndroid, the ISP and cable provider has officially announced their Xfinity app for Android. According to the emailr, the app will include:

  • Access home voicemail and forward home phone calls from your Xfinity Voice service directly to your Android device
  • Use the Xfinity mobile widget to quickly review your latest voicemail and email messages
  • Sync your Universal Address Book to have all your personal and professional contacts in one place
  • Review and respond to Comcast.net email
  • Remotely program and manage your DVRs so you never miss a show
  • View local TV listings, sort by different categories and watch Video On Demand movie trailers

And, some things specific to the Android app:

  • Widgets: lets you see the two most recent email and voice mail messages; listen to voice mail messages right from the widget
  • Data Storage: android allows access to storage on the devices, so you can store attachments or other files and also upload files as attachments when sending email

Pretty cool stuff here. Be sure to keep your cursor on TalkAndroid so you know when the app is officially released, and be sure to hit the break for the full email. Let us know your thoughts in the comments!

Update: The app is now available on the market, and can be downloaded via appbrain or direct from the market.

Hope all is well.  It’s been some time since we here at Comcast have given Android users news they can use – but we’re excited to say that today we’re announcing the launch of the Xfinity Mobile App (formerly Comcast Mobile app) to Android devices.

The Xfinity Mobile app on Android is the first-ever Comcast Android app, available for free to Comcast customers.  Those of you who have followed the Comcast Mobile app know that we’ve been working hard to get our app out on Android devices and we hope you enjoy it.

The full list of features is below, which include the ability to:
•       Access home voicemail and forward home phone calls from your Xfinity Voice service directly to your Android device;
•       Use the Xfinity mobile widget to quickly review your latest voicemail and email messages;
•       Sync your Universal Address Book to have all your personal and professional contacts in one place;
•       Review and respond to Comcast.net email;
•       Remotely program and manage your DVRs so you never miss a show;
•       View local TV listings, sort by different categories and watch Video On Demand movie trailers.

Some features unique to Android devices on the Xfinity Mobile App include:
•       Widgets: lets you see the two most recent email and voice mail messages; listen to voice mail messages right from the widget.
•       Data Storage: android allows access to storage on the devices, so you can store attachments or other files and also upload files as attachments when sending email.

    This app was super annoying! First, it wanted me to log in with some Comcast log in ID and password which they’ve evidently already created for me and I have no clue what it is.

    I went through the process to verify myself and they told me my ID was my first name and last name (misspelled, I corrected that spelling a year and half ago via a phone call), followed by comcast.net. So I tried that with my usual password to no avail. Lovely.

    I uninstalled the app. If I have to jump through that many hoops just to find out my name is still misspelled, then make a phone call and jump through more hoops to get the ID fixed and obtain my password, just forget it! >:-(

    The ios app has been out for quiet sometime. Guess they were a priority over Android. Better late than never.

    This app is awful. It doesn’t feature any of the cool stuff that can be done on the iphone. Comcast should be ashamed for putting out this crap.

    Well, It has issues. It is still pretty new and it needs alot of work.
    For one it is VERY slow. It takes forever to “update” when I check or try and get my voice mail.

    They don’t seem to be putting a very high priority on the Android app as they did the Ipad.

    I’m just going to wait. What choice is there?

    There are many mixed reviews on this Xfinity app. True, it’s still being developed, but it’s all been done before. I am a DISH Network subscriber and employee, and I couldn’t be happier using their Remote Access app. Comcast does not have the ability to stream live TV outside of the home. With DISH Network, I can stream live TV, all my DVR content, and on demand content anywhere!! I would definitely suggest comparing!
