Google Nexus One Launch Postponed In China

Google have today announced that the launch of their Nexus One handset in China has been postponed.

The search giant are currently in a dispute with the Chinese Government over censorship and e-mail hacking, that could see them leave the country entirely.

Google Inc. spokeswoman Marsha Wang confirmed that a planned launch event scheduled to take on Wednesday has now been canceled, but wouldn’t elaborate on the decision to delay the launch other than to confirm that “It is postponed”.

According to a source familiar with the situation, Google feel that currently due to the publicity surrounding them in China it would be difficult for their customers to have a “positive experiance” with the product.

Google revealed last week that they no longer want to censor the content on their Chinese Google.cn search and want to begin talks with Beijing about providing a legal, unfiltered search engine in the Country.

I am not sure if they will ever launch it in China. China could be a great market, but I think they need to relax some of their laws before it will really have the potential a large company needs.

  2. Just give it up man, you NEVER update your site. Absolute waste, I’ll buy the domain and do something useful since your so fu**** lazy!!

  3. China doesn’t seem to like Google.
Maybe Google should concentrate on other countries.

Interesting concept. I’m not quite this adventurous yet, but I can think of a minimum of 1 writer – Greg Crites – who does podcasts of his functions. It seems to perform wonderfully nicely for him. And, while you pointed out, this really another medium through which writers can connect to an extra pool of readers. Cool stuff!
