It seems that a couple photos taken with the recently leaked Galaxy S have emerged, and they reveal that the phone appears to only be sporting a 5MP camera. This is a bit disappointing for a next generation device, especially when older devices like the Droid Incredible feature 8MP cameras. The evidence comes from the photo information, which reveals the following:

It’s possible this is a hoax, but given the fact that pictures of the device have already leaked, this would be somewhat of a silly hoax at this point. Continue reading after the break to see the other two photos.

Megapixels does not a good camera make, it’s the optics that makes a decent camera

While mega-pixel size is something to be desired, it shouldn’t be the only defining aspect of a good camera. If the Nexus S is to use the same camera as the Galaxy this will be great. I have a Galaxy S and the shutter quality, focus quality and various different shooting modes make it just as good as an 8MP without these qualities. The only thing that the Galaxy S lacks is a flash.

    Guys, proof-read your articles.

    “…with the recently leaked Galaxy S have….”

    Not Galaxy S, Nexus S.

With the current mobile phone cameras, the resolution is about the last thing to worry about. What’s more important for a good picture quality are the low light performance, the dynamic range, shutter release delay, focus speed/quality, color accuracy etc.
I’d prefer a GOOD 3MP or 5MP camera over any of the currently existing mediocre 8MP cameras in my mobile phone.
