Hello!

I am from Malaysia. I just bought HTC Magic last year December but it is still running on Android 1.5. I have been wondering, are there any chances that I could update it to Android 2.1? If can, how and where? Thank you.

Pats..

The reason the Dream is not receiving the upgraded OS is due to a limitation of the RAM. The Dream only has 192 MB of RAM while the Magic has 288 MB. Well, the Rogers branded Magic has 288MB.

Unfortunately, the case with Google branded Magics.. Or MyTouch3G, is that they were only shipped with 192MB of RAM. (FYI: Rogers branded has a 32A chip and the others have a 32B chip if you're going to do any rooting.)

You will still be able to run it, but it will probably just give you a fair amount screen lag and loading times.

Let us know how it works out!

I'm thinking it's a storage issue. While the Dream will run 1.6 (and up), I'm betting Rogers doesn't have room on it for all their bundled applications.

Ermm, the Dream can run 1.6 - I had it before I switched to Cyanogen...

Unless that was a "1.5 update", which implies there will be a 1.7 soon maybe?
