From the Facebook Live Mobile Event: It was just announced at the Facebook mobile event that there will be some pretty major updates to the Facebook app for Android. Mark Zuckerberg said that the entire reason the Android app was never on par with other mobile platform Facebook apps was because they were unable to pull a full team together to work on the app. According to Zuckerberg, they had been working on the app with an app development company, and right before they were ready to launch, Google bought out the company they were working with, essentially putting the development on a hold.
However, says Zuckerberg, they are now caught up and ready to move forward. There are two major improvements coming to the Android Facebook app:
He also said that he believes the Android app is now on par with the iPhone app after these changes. Looks like we’ll have to wait and see what other Android sepcific changes are going to be made, so keep your cursors here!
