There it is, folks. The image above is said to be what HTC's on-screen buttons will look like with the upcoming M8 smartphone. A few days ago, @evleaks confirmed that the device would be the company's first with on-screen buttons. And courtesy of an unidentified source, the world now knows what to expect. The order matches exactly that of stock Android. From left to right are the back, home, and multitasking buttons.

This is a departure from the capacitive buttons on the HTC One. Also, the One featured only a back and home button. The HTC One X from 2012, however, features the exact layout as the image above although it had capactive buttons. It'll be interesting to see the design of the HTC M8 since the large bezel of the One, likely caused by the capacitive buttons, was one of the few complaints.

  1. I don’t need nor have I ever used the multitask button on any phone so I’m good with my htc one the way it is. I’m all for putting the buttons on as software but it would be cool to change it on your own in the settings to make it more personalized (and to get rid of the most useless part of any android phone)

    1. Have you used a phone with a multi-task button? I never realized how nice they are until I had a phone with them. Try them, you’ll like them.

  2. Nice. Glad they went to on screen buttons, also glad they chose the common Android layout of “back, home, multi-task”

    1. A stupid article? I don’t think so. An image of the buttons leaked; therefore, we wanted to show it to our readers.
Slow day? Super Bowl Sunday. So yes, it is a slow day.

    2. This makes a huge difference to the expected design of the m8 and HTC’s direction moving forward as a whole. Wouldn’t call this stupid article at all.
