LG files new trademarks, renews others in the process

To fly under the radar, LG has filed for some new trademarks just before the real CES craze begins. Among the long list are G Bot, Meta Drive, Fireweb, Air Gap, Zero Gap, Exalt, Reflex, Elite, and Motion. While some of them have never been seen before, others are just old trademarks that LG renewed. Great timing, LG.

Here is some speculation from Phandroid:

  • LG G Bot: the “G” in this bot’s name has us thinking this could be some sort of Android device, but it could be anything… like a competitor for The iRobot smart vacuum.
  • Meta Drive: a new cloud storage service? It’s all the rage these days.
  • Fireweb: could be an Opera Turbo-esque feature for the stock browser where pages are compressed for harsh data connections. Or perhaps a new browser altogether.
  • Air Gap and Zero Gap: new names for a zero gap chassis construction? This is anyone’s guess.

There is an outside chance that some of these names appear at LG’s CES press conference; however, it could be a precursor to what the company plans on delivering next month at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

Justin is patiently waiting for the day that Google replicates the Galaxy Nexus with modern day specifications.
