Huawei Ascend P7 specs get confirmed thanks to internal document leak

Huawei’s Ascend P7, the follow-up to the Ascend P6 as seen above (Huawei is really clever with their naming schemes), has been more-or-less confirmed thanks to an internal document that leaked. The Ascend P7 is going by the code name Sophia and will feature a pretty hefty update to what Huawei usually offers. We’ll likely see a 5-inch, full HD screen as well as Huawei’s Emotion 2.0 UI. The processor will be one of Huawei’s in-house chips, but it’s a quad-core clocked at 1.6 GHz. There’s also 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage space on board, plus a microSD card slot. The device will also reportedly have a very high 8 megapixel front-facing camera, which is supposedly going to be used to take “best selfie videos.”

Another interesting detail, besides the focus on taking great selfies, is that the phone will be made of “exquisite materials.” There’s nothing indicating what exactly that means, but you can bet it’s not going to be plastic. Huawei has always put the feel of a device above other things, and they look to be continuing that trend.

This leaked document does actually give a release date, which never seems to happen with this sort of thing. If everything goes well, we can expect to see this device in stores next April. Of course, with Huawei’s recent struggles in the US market, that doesn’t necessarily mean US stores. We might mean we’ll see an official announcement from Huawei at CES, so we’ll keep you updated.
