Motorola Droid GSM Model Video Footage

As you've all probably already heard, Verizon unveiled their first Android handset earlier today. Manufactured by Motorola, the Motorola Droid will be available from next Friday priced at $199 as part of a 2-year Verizon contract.

The announcement was made just a few hours ago, and we expect more information and media on the handset to filter out over the course of the day.

Here's a video that has just surfaced on YouTube showing a GSM version of the handset, so hopefully it won't be long before we hear some announcements for Europe.

As you can see from the video the handset does experience a certain degree of lag, but early hands-on reviews are claiming it's the fastest Android device so far. Guess we'll know more in the coming days.

  1. “certain degree of lag”

are you serious? its laggy as hell..I do hope this is because of pre-release firmware.

  2. Yeah it wasn’t the best demo vid was it?

Anyway, some Engadget hands-on videos are making their way online, and the interface speeds look much improved:

  3. It better at least be as quick interface wise as the Hero. That looked brutal. That was even laggier than the initial Hero firmware, which people were saying was unusable. Now I expect the current Hero speed or else I won’t touch this with a 10 foot pole. LOL

  4. It is slightly thicker than the iPhone but has the thinnest touch QWERTY slider available on the market. It seems to be the fastest Android device and it?s no surprise because it has an ARM Cortex A8 TI OMAP3430 processor. The display, according to the FCC information, is a massive high 854×480 pixels resolution, which is 2-3 times the space as the Palm Pre, Android G1 or iPhone.
