T-Mobile G2 dropping calls?

by Chris Moor
tagged , , , , , , , , , ,

Without a doubt, the T-Mobile G2 has been their most anticipated device since rumors of the original G1 began to circulate. Not only does the G2 come with stock Android 2.2, but it also has a physical keyboard and an 800MHz CPU. All in all, it’s a very impressive device.

However, not all is well in G2-land, as several users have began reporting that their G2s have been dropping calls like an Apple device. Usually this complaint comes from AT&T customers, not T-Mobile’s. So I have to ask you all this, is your G2 dropping calls on you? Hows the reception compared to your G1? Let us know in our forums.

Thanks Caroline for sending this in!

Why do you say it has stock Android 2.2? That’s not the case. It may have a less mucky, less hobbled, less skinned version of 2.2, but it’s still not stock.

It removed some aspects, such as mobile hotspot (though there is word that some version of mobile hotspot may currently be OTA-ing its way to G2s now).

Uhm.. yes, especially when every other device coming out got an 1GHz CPU, really impressive.

It’s not all about GHz my friend. Take a look at some G2 benchmarks: http://www.intomobile.com/2010/09/24/t-mobile-g2-benchmark-video-fast/

even though its 800MHz, its a new chip design that has “fatter pipes” to allow more data to be transmitted, hence even at 800MHz, it performs just as well as, or better than 1GHz chips.

Wow…..these GHz chumps will never get it!

yea, saw a similar quadrant test compared to the Galaxy S version Sprint use..
and yes, Stock out of the box the G2 rocks the Galaxy S, but then again, 2.2 VS 2.1, and Samsungs crappy file system..
    I know, MHz/GHz ain’t everything.
It’s the old AMD rocks more per megahertz then Intel story.

I was noticing a cut off or a dropping of the call at the very end. I just figured that it was the Google listening to my conversation and when they heard the two of us say Good by or Talk to you Later and cut the call off for us !!
