Verizon Roadmap Reveals Motorola Sholes To Launch In October

The guys over at BoyGeniusReport have managed to get their hands on a roadmap of Verizon Wireless’ upcoming handset release dates for 2009.

Included in the roadmap is Motorola’s first android phone, the Motorola Sholes, with a planned launch set as early as October of this year.

The Motorola Sholes handset will include a 3.7-inch touch-sensitive display (854 x 480 pixel resolution), a 5.0 megapixel camera with auto focus and video recording capabilities, GPS navigation, media player with support for AMR-NB/WB, MP3, PCM / WAV, AAC, AAC +, eAAC +, WMA audio files and MPEG-4, H.263, H.264, WMV video files, and a microSD / microSDHC memory card slot.

It is also believed that Sholes will feature Google’s upcoming Eclair branch of the Android platform aswell.

The handset is expected to be priced at around $199 as part of a Verizon service contract.

Randy I disagree. The smaller "phones" are designed to be used as a phone. The larger devices do not have the speaker/microphone configuration to be used as such.
