Real Racing 3 Crosses The Freemium Finish Line On Feb 28

If you’re a fan of Racing games on your Android device than you are in luck. Team Firemonkeys (the group behind the Real Racing Series) announced that the game will be hitting the Play Store on February 28th as a free to play experience, or in other words, free to download with in app purchases. Of course team Firemonkeys knows that this decision will be met with some criticism so they had this statement prepared in response.

Today we announced Real Racing 3 will be free. And yes, Real Racing 3 was designed from the ground up to be a free to play experience. We are so excited about this game and wanted it to be accessible to everyone so we didn’t want there to be any barriers to entry. This accessibility is also what drives the awesome new Time Shifted Multiplayer feature, in that you can play competitive multiplayer with anyone any time, and they don’t need to be online with you at the same time. At launch we have 46 licensed vehicles covering 3 classes, a 22 car grid, real world tracks, 8 varied event types and 900+ events. This means hundreds of hours of gameplay for free making this one of the most expansive games ever on mobile. We plan to continue to add more free and exciting content with every update.

I know a lot of people don’t care for the freemium model because it will probably cost more for the hardcore players. On the flip side, it gives more people an opportunity to try the game and see if they like it. Either way, Real Racing 3 is probably going to be one of the hottest racing games to hit Android this year. With the Android 4.2.2 update rolling out to some Nexus devices , MWC around the corner, and this game launching in about two weeks, February is shaping up to be a great month for Android fans.

depending on the model of f2p that’s good.
but if you NEED iap to advance or unlock content, then it sucks. i mean, it’s ok to have a few special non-essential in-app-only unlocks, but…
