Lenovo set to launch LePad, a 10-inch Android tablet, this December

Back in July, we told you about Lenovo’s venture into the Android tablet market with their 10-inch LePad. Well, Lenovo has announced that the LePad is headed to China this December, with an optional case and keyboard combo shipping in January.

See, the LePad is actually part of a hybrid device that Lenovo is calling the IdeaPad U1 Hybrid, which essentially doubles as both a tablet and a laptop. The LePad is the tablet portion of the IdeaPad, and the case and keyboard combo coming in January is the laptop portion. Interestingly enough, Lenovo was originally planning on using their own Skylight OS, but scrapped that idea in favor of using Android.

There is no word yet as to when we might see this thing heading to the US, as Lenovo is saying that China will be its only destination for the time being. Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.
