Speaking at the Bank of America Merrill Lynch 2010 Media, Communications & Entertainment Conference (now that’s a mouthful), AT&T’s operations CEO, John Stankey, revealed that his company is slated to launch their LTE (4G) network by mid-2011. He noted that AT&T has spent over $700 million in LTE development this year, and that the network is undergoing testing in Dallas and Baltimore.
Stankey went on to say that HSPA will be the network’s fallback measure, which will provide speeds faster than their current 3G offering. This is certainly good news for AT&T customers, and should signal some 4G Android devices being released next year on AT&T in coordination with the launch of the LTE network.
