Update to AppBrain App Market brings new social features

AppBrain, the popular Android application database, has announced an update to their mobile Android app.  On top of a crisper UI to go along with their recently updated website, they have added a slew of new social features, including a means of connecting to Facebook, and sharing apps on Twitter.

In addition to this, you can also browse “celebrity” app lists, including Leo Laporte.

Heads up to anyone thinking of connecting services. I connected my Google account and found it automatically subscribe to me their feed in Google Reader. Not cool. Especially with over 1500 posts a week.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Update: Duh, their site uses Google Friend Connect to connect to Google services(used on blogs to follow and engage). It will not have access to your actual contacts, only people you ‘friend’ on appbrain.com through GFC. I would have thought app brain would have used a different implemtation since that not what GFC is typically used for. I love GFC, use it on my site, but never seen it used this way…
