TV sets today are now getting smarter and smarter, but what better way to get into the market with an open OS that has options for developers to expand upon.  People of Lava, a Scandinavian TV company, is claiming to have the world’s first Android TV.  They have put together a heavily customized version of Android Cupcake 1.5 into their new sets shown off at IFA 2010 Berlin.  It currently sports it’s own interface skin for easy navigation via a palm-sized keyboard with custom media style buttons built in.

When you first boot up, you are presented with an intro screen sporting widgets such as a calendar and current weather.  Click a button on the remote and you are brought to the homescreen.   From here you can surf the web, facebook, youtube, and email with the provided apps. Unfortunately, Google’s Marketplace is not present, but you can download more apps from their own App Market.  People of Lava stated they currently have about 25-30 apps, but say they should have much more in the near future.  The sets will be available in 42-inch, 47-inch, and 55-inch screen sizes.
