Here is some news that may prove to be disappointing to some T-Mobile readers out there. As you all know, the first Android phone was the G1, and it launched on T-Mobile. Continuing the legacy of the first Android phone is the T-Mobile G2. The phone was rumored to have had a 1GHz processor, which is what we all expected it to have anyways, as most high-end Android phones today are equipped with one.

However, sad news has come out of T-Mobile, as we have all just been told that the G2 will be sporting an 800MHz Scorpion processor. The device will also be shipped with Android 2.2, so it can add that to its name, if not the 1GHz processor we had all hoped for.

Not disappointing at all. That 800mhz could be just as fast as a 1ghz. The real bonus here is that this phone will run vanilla Android!! I will be buying on launch day for my wife. It will look awesome next to my Nexus One.

doesn’t gingerbread specs say min 1GHz CPU, or was that honeycomb? Well, point is, will the G2 be stuck on now so hot but soon to be outdated FroYo?
