According to an Engadget tipster, it looks like AT&T is going to stop offering discounted, on-contract tablets as of today. They will still be selling off-contract tablets at full-price, however, but say goodbye to carrier tablet subsidies. The off-contract tablets can still use DataConnect and Mobile Share plans.
Current subsidized tablet customers have the option to add their device to a Mobile Share plan for just $10, but they must still fulfill the original contract.
This is an interesting move by AT&T. We have to assume that subsidizing tablets has not been a profitable venture for them. Are more people interested in paying full price and not getting locked in to a contract when it comes to tablets?
