We received an email on Friday from Samsung telling us to save August 15th for an unveiling of the next U.S. Galaxy device. There were no other details, including the location. My initial thought was that this is going to be the Galaxy Note 10.1 because it has been rumored that the Galaxy Note 2 will be announced at IFA 2012 in Berlin. That completely makes sense to me since Samsung rarely has device announcements in the U.S. first, and the while the Note 2 is expected to launch overseas, why unveil it in the states?
This morning BGR is reporting that a source has told them that the August 15th announcement will indeed be the Galaxy Note 2. I’m having a hard to believing this, but I’ve been wrong before. Since Samsung seems to unveil most of their device overseas, the question has to arise as to why it would be the Note 10.1? Well don’t forget it was already shown at Mobile World Congress in February, which was in Barcelona, Spain. Of course we are expecting an updated version from what we saw then. This latest version will probably sport an Exynos quad-core processor. There is one last tidbit and the press team handling the August 15th event handles tablets so I’m still putting my money on it being the Galaxy Note 10.1. Who knows, maybe we will get a major bonus and both devices will be unveiled. Stay tuned.
