We wrote earlier today about the power of Corning’s Gorilla glass, which is at the core of the Super AMOLED display utilized by the Galaxy S line of Android devices.  The technology is essentially a very thin layer of glass, which acts as a protective barrier over the AMOLED display.  A great video has emerged demonstrating a Galaxy S phone undergoing a barrage of tests, demonstrating how protective the glass actually is.  Check out the video below, and please refrain from testing your own Galaxy S device in this way.

    Get a case… I have a galaxy s.

The glass might be indestructible, but the cheap plastic scratches up at the the first touch of something hard.

I just put my keys in the same pocket *once* by accident. And now I have scratches on the surrounding “silver” edges and the back.

The screen is just fine, but the plastic is cheap.

    (I still recommend the phone).

Gorilla glass is a hard glass that is unshatterable, unbreakable, and often used as a shield in mobile phone, laptop display, PDA’s and so on. This glass can be as thin as 0.5 mm and can also be found in the thickness of 2 mm. However, its strength and resistance remains the same in all kinds of thickness. Considering all this factors, Samsung also decided to use Gorilla Glass.
