Nexus 7 pre-orders now live at numerous retailers

Here at TalkAndroid we’re counting down the days until we can get our hands on the Nexus 7 and the Jelly Bean goodness that comes with it. With around a week to go before the world can grab the latest and greatest Android tablet direct from Google’s Play Store, a number of high street retailers will also be joining the party. Best Buy, Future Shop and Staples have all added pre-order pages to their respective websites. Curiously only the 16GB variation is available at this time and it remains to be seen as to whether or not the 8GB model will make a belated appearance. At $259.99 the price is identical to the price you pay if you buy direct from Google however it doesn’t appear that you’ll get your hands on that $25 Google Play credit sweetener. If you’re itching with anticipation then you might want to order from Staples who claim stock will arrive on July 14th. Both Best Buy and Future Shops list August 10th for stock.

Have you got your pre-order in already? Will you be going direct through Google? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

Originally from Inverness in the Highlands of Scotland, I'm now living in the UK's second city, Birmingham. I've had a passion for gadgets from a very young age, it all started with my Commodore 64 at the tender age of 2 years old. I purchased my first mobile phone aged 17 and it was from there the obsession began. Having now gone through 33 phones in 13 years it's safe to say my passion for phones is alive and well! My current phone is the Galaxy Nexus as I'm a big fan of the pure Android experience. I've been working in the Banking industry for the past 10 years and I'm currently working in Human Resources for one of the World's largest Retail Banks. I spend my spare time with my wonderful wife and young family and when I'm not fiddling with phones and tablets I can be found playing football (soccer for you guys in the States!), watching Mixed Martial Arts, tinkering with cars or listening to music.

Tired of all the bs, will only buy from google now. I bought the LG G2x because I thought it was stock android and would get timely updates. Right.
No, wrong again. Ordered my Nexus 7 on the first day from google.
Possibly stores only getting 8G because it sold out first day on google.

Regardless of where one buys the nexus 7 they will still get the $25 play store credit….be it Staples, Wal-Mart, Office Depot, Game Stop, it doesn’t matter. I bought mine at staples and received the $25 the minute I signed in with my Google account. Not only that, after I received the update and Google wallet was added and I signed in ( I already has an account with my gsm GNex) I got $10 added to the Google wallet prepaid card, even though I already got $10 from when I signed up on my GNex….the balance does not carry over, so I have $10 on the n7 and $10 on my GNex, that I had already spent $3 of. So don’t worry y’all, buy it where you can find it because you will get the $25 no matter what. They can’t differentiate between a n7 bought on the play store vs Staples, Google put the offer on all n7’s.

By the way, my nexus 7 that I found at Staples is the 16 gb one, not the 8 gb. I also kept my pre order that I have with the play store for the 16gb…funny how I pre ordered on June 28th and still don’t have it, yet I walk in to staples to get copy paper and there they are, the 4th shipment according to the guy at staples.
