With the recent release of the Dell Streak, a mini Android powered tablet that is also a phone, there was bound to be another manufacturer that wanted to jump on the tablet/smartphone combo wagon. A recent filing at the FCC shows that Archos has entered the ring with its own handset, the Archos 32. At least it’s being called a tablet even though it only has a 3.2″ screen, smaller than many Android phones.
All nitpicking aside, the Archos 32 looks to be a pretty decent handset. It will include an 800MHz ARM Cortex A8 processor, 8GB of storage, and will run a custom version of Android 2.1 on a 400×240 resolution touch-screen display. As you can see there is also a touch sensitive directional pad (I don’t know why companies think there needs to be a directional pad on a touch screen). Other features include WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, composite video out, and a camera capable of 640×480 resolution MPEG-4 video recording.
Lastly enough, it will supposedly be priced around $150 but there is no clue to what carrier it will be released on yet. Do you think this supposed tablet phone has what it takes with all the new and upcoming phones? Let us know below!
