T-Mobile US Delay Android 1.5 Cupcake Update By A Week

According to an update on the official T-Mobile US community forums, the Android 1.5 cupcake update has been delayed for a week.

We’d like to provide an update on the rollout of Android 1.5 for T-Mobile G1 customers.
We are working diligently to get Android 1.5 out as soon as possible, while aiming to ensure a consistent, positive experience for our customers. We’re finalizing the build this week to ensure optimal functionality and smooth delivery. Therefore, the rollout schedule has been reset by approximately a week, and we expect all G1 customers will have the update by early June.

Your device will notify you when the update is available.  Thank you for your patience and understanding.

T-Mobile previously announced Android 1.5 Cupcake updates would begin from May 11th.

We’ll keep you posted on any further developments!

AHHH!!!!! Come on you guys are killing me!!!

  2. Why is T-Mobile playing with my emotions!

  3. JF 1.5 Ftw

  4. I swear when they release next iphone i’ll buy in first day…

  5. They soooo stupid…gettn urrbody worked up like that. Unprofessional!

  6. There there people let’s not be so drastic and say things we don’t mean. Think about it this way let’s enjoy this newborn version of android for it will all be a memory this time next month when we will only have the memory of how slow the camera was, a time when we had no video record, on screen keyboard. Let our last final days be good ones, happy times before 1.5…..
    P.S I’m so excited

  7. no big deal. I’d rather have a build that works than something that got rushed just to make a deadline. Things change, happens all the time.

It’s not unprofessional to change the date, it would be unprofessional to not tell us.

And for people who keep “threatening” to buy an iPhone: Put up or shut up.

Here’s something you have to look forward to when you buy your iphone:

Thank you Jason D, and to those who are going to get an iphoney…sorry iphone will you all sell me your G1, never can have enough

    G1-AND-ONLY

  9. just thought id tell everyone there has already been video recorder for a month for free on the android market, hence one of the many ways the g1 google phone owns the iphone…another would be android is going to outgrow the iphone by the end of the 3rd quarter at the rate im seeing all these new devices out, on numerous carriers..another advantage to back my point.

more features, more apps, free apps!, more users by 2010 i bet….sorry g1 and g1v2 plus the g2 are going to rape the iphone this year…but supposedly apple is whipping something out soon…well see.

well i have to admit i do want it to run smooth then chopped and screwed. on the other hand i hate to rush anyone that wants to do a good job. i cant develop nothing at all but i would like it to release on release date. just please hurry cuz i cant wait any longeer plus rumor has it that the G1 will be not get any more updates after this update G1 will be left for dead after that update.

well if the letter from tmobile is true you might be right. It said the G1 would reach “product end” in the 1st week in august then we get something called a big foot but im betting that if our phone breaks they might try to push the magic at us and I would not be a happy camper at all

  12. I pay over $100/month to use this phone, paid $360 to buy it, I absolutely love Tmobile as a carrier BUT for such a pricey phone it seems it lacks some basic features it ALMOST doesn’t make the g1 seem worth it. Don’t get me wrong, I love my g1, but c’mon already…this is their shtick, their gimmick! In 6 months a better phone is likely to come along. This is how they mess with us. Its a game. I don’t like it, but it is what it is..

  13. Getting really old tmo.

  14. i still havent got the new 1.5 cupcake update everybody else has it but me man this sucks..

  15. tmobile sucks iif i dont get my update 2morrow on may 31,2009 im dropp.n my tmobile contract cxz at&t would have did you like this..

  16. I got my update last night at midnight :-) It’s awesome!!!

  17. A co-worker of mine got hers 3 days ago, I’m expecting mine to come in at any time now here in SoCal.

  18. WTF where’s my cupcake?
