The unrevoked team has really outdone themselves this time. If it wasn’t enough that they gave us a painless root and reflash tool for devices like the Incredible, now they have brought us the ability to flash custom firmware images as well. With unrevoked forever, your phone’s security level will be set to S-OFF, thus bypassing a standard security feature which checks the signatures of firmware images before flashing them. That ain’t all, folks. This bad boy applies the S-OFF fix to the radio’s NV memory, which means that even if you apply an OTA update that is unrootable, you are still able to reflash a custom recovery image. At this time, unrevoked forever only supports the Incredible and the Evo 4G, but the team is fairly confident the software will work with other devices as well, and are planning additional support in the future.
