XFINITY TV For Android Gets Ice Cream Sandwich Support

Well look at what we have here… an update to Comcast’s XFINITY TV app that gives us full Ice Cream Sandwich support! It’s been about a month since the last update, which added some basic but useful features such as auto-detecting your channel lineup, and accessing favorite and recent channels. The release notes for this latest update simply states the following:

What’s in this version:

  1. Ice Cream Sandwich support for tablets and handsets
  2. Minor bug fixes

This means that users with an ICS device (including tablets) can now play. Unfortunately, this update still does NOT get us streaming video of any kind, a feature currently exclusive to the iOS version of the app. Why, Comcast? Your newly launched Streampix service had me excited until I saw that you only support mobile streaming to an iOS device… no little green robot love :-(

My disappointment aside, the app is actually pretty good for what it does offer. See a screenshot of it running on my Xoom, and download it from the Play Store after the break.
