Google Mobile event scheduled for August 12th

It appears Google is hosting an impromptu mobile event this Thursday with admission by invite only. Google will be “unveiling a couple of cool new mobile features,” although specifics are currently under wraps. The last time an event like this was planned, we were blessed with turn-by-turn navigation. For now we turn to you, the readers, to speculate what this event may have in store for us. Here’s what I think it is, checkins for latitude! Yep, thats my idea. I read that Facebook is updating with Facebook Places later this week, maybe early next week and I think now we are going to see Google Latitude Checkins.

Not sure what other ideas they have, guess it could be google PLACES checkins, not sure.
