1458. That’s the Droid 2′s straight-out-of-the-box Quadrant score. Higher than the Nexus One, and higher than virtually any Android phone to date. The phone is set to debut Thursday, so pack your camping gear, and get ready, because these things are going to sell like hotcakes.

Yea but if the droid 2 is running android 2.2 then who cares about the benchmark because 2.2 is 2-5 times faster then 2.1 and all those other phones listed may very well be running 2.1, I know the galaxy S is..

  • BLaZe

The Galaxy S will easily beat those benchmarks once Froyo is unveiled next month.

Is the evo too beastly to even be in the conversation?

  • Jesse

Actually, I find this disappointingly low. My original Droid running 2.2 at 1GHz gets 1433 in Quadrant. Considering the Droid 2 has a newer generation processor than the Droid, I’d expect it to beat the Droid by a wider margin than this at the same clock speed.

But, maybe all the improvements to the new CPU were for better power efficiency, not better performance.

On the other hand, this makes me happy, too, because I don’t need to spend the money to upgrade – all the Droid 2 seems to offer over a rooted/overclocked Droid is a better keyboard and (probably) better battery life!

Well my galaxy s running 2.1 scores between 2100 and 2200 on stock firmware with root and lag fix…. So with 2.2 it just gonna blow any other phone out of the water XD

Well, my HD2 can get 1705 running Android…

This is out of the box with no root, no modifications. It says that in the article. Stock.

i got 1650 with my droid 2 global Stock.

My Desire hd scores 1830 without modification. Great score I guess.

My LG G2X rooted running trigger 2X and overclocked to 1.5 GHz scored 5430 today. So I guess that takes first place. :)
